The South Carolina Department of Archives and History is a repository of records for many American Revolutionary War artifacts. Among them are the Journals of the Provincial Congress of South Carolina. The war for Independence was not the product of an unruly mob. A review of the documents coming out of that time show a concerted effort to articulate and memorialize the thoughts of the leaders and everyday citizens of this state concerning freedom, religion, and government.
